Next-Play Reset
You just made a mistake and can't let it go.
Mistakes happen to every athlete. The skill is returning to a useful action, even when frustration is still there.
A CUE TO TAKE WITH YOU
Name it. Cue. Exhale. Next task.
What you’ll do 4 steps
- 01Name it, briefly
- 02Choose your physical cue
- 03Breathe out
- 04Next task
Test the reset in practice. Keep only steps that help you return to the task; shorten it if it becomes a ritual or delays play.

Supported components
Routines, concise cues, acceptance-based action and pressure practice have supporting evidence. The exact four-step reset below has not been established as a superior named protocol in a strong trial.
Adapt when needed. Remove any step that lengthens rumination or creates a visible ritual the athlete cannot interrupt.
